Cheaper Home Batteries Program (Now Running)

Government discount to cut your upfront cost

From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program provides around a 30% discount on eligible small-scale home and small-business batteries. The discount is linked to the battery’s usable capacity and is generally applied up-front by the installer/retailer. The support gradually steps down to 2030.

• Who can apply: Households & small businesses installing an eligible battery with new or existing rooftop solar. 
• How it’s delivered: Discount is processed at purchase by accredited suppliers and overseen by the Clean Energy Regulator. 
• Compliance: Batteries must meet AS/NZS 5139 and other program eligibility requirements.
